How Much Does a Kitchen Remodel Cost in Oklahoma?

Most kitchen remodels cost $15,000 to $45,000, says a national cost guide updated in January 2026. Its average is about $27,000. A minor refresh runs $10,000 to $25,000 in that guide. A high-end remodel or full gut runs $60,000 to $130,000.

Oklahoma City runs a little under national prices for the same work. A 2025 cost report from a remodeling trade magazine priced three sample kitchens there and nationwide. Each Oklahoma City price came in about 4 to 7 percent lower. These are market numbers from published sources, not our price list.

What do minor, mid-range and full gut kitchen remodels cost?

Two national cost guides sort kitchen remodels by how much of the room changes. The second one, updated in June 2026, draws on a survey of more than 10,000 customers. The table sets their ranges beside the trade report’s Oklahoma City averages.

ScopeNational guide, January 2026National guide, June 2026Oklahoma City, 2025 trade report
Minor refresh$10,000 to $25,000$10,000 to $20,000$26,468 average
Mid-range or major remodel$25,000 to $60,000$20,000 to $65,000$79,537 average
Full gut or high-end$60,000 to $130,000$65,000 to $130,000 or more$156,050 average

A minor refresh keeps the layout and the cabinet boxes. The cabinets get paint or new doors, and the counters, sink, faucet and floor are replaced. A mid-range remodel puts in new cabinets and counters, along with new floors and appliances. It may add an island or make small layout changes.

A full gut takes the kitchen down to the studs. Walls can come out and the sink can move, so the plumbing and wiring move too. Custom cabinets and stone counters push this level toward the top of the range. Our kitchen remodeling work goes down to the studs when the room needs it.

The trade report’s prices sit above the guides’ ranges. Its sample kitchen is 200 square feet, bigger than the 160 to 180 square feet the January guide calls average. A bigger kitchen needs more cabinets and more floor.

What do kitchen remodels cost in Oklahoma?

The trade report’s national averages ran higher than its Oklahoma City figures for all three kitchens. Nationally, the minor refresh averaged $28,458 and the mid-range remodel $82,793. The high-end kitchen averaged $164,104.

Permit records give a second view. A renovation platform studied 333 Oklahoma City kitchen permits filed from March 2021 to December 2025. The average declared value was $67,108. Only jobs that filed a permit count, so the figure likely leans toward bigger remodels.

The published Oklahoma figures above all come from Oklahoma City. For a kitchen in Woodward or Enid, a written estimate for your own room is the number that counts.

Where does the money go in a kitchen remodel?

Cabinets take the biggest share in both national guides. The June guide puts them near 30 percent of the total. The January guide breaks a remodel down like this:

  • Cabinets: 40 percent
  • Flooring: 18 percent
  • Countertops: 14 percent
  • Plumbing and electrical, fixtures included: 11 percent
  • Appliances: 6 percent
  • Lighting: 5 percent
  • Backsplash: 4 percent
  • Paint: 2 percent

Labor sits inside those shares. The same guide puts labor at 50 to 60 percent of the whole job.

It also says to set aside 5 to 10 percent more for surprises, like hidden water damage. That cushion matters in older houses. Census Bureau surveys date about 6 in 10 Woodward homes to before 1980.

What drives the cost of a kitchen remodel up or down?

Cabinets. New cabinets average about $7,000 in the January guide. Painting the cabinets you have runs $2,500 to $6,500 there. Stock cabinets cost the least and custom cabinets the most.

Countertops. The January guide puts the average kitchen at about 35 square feet of counter. New counter material for that space runs $1,400 to $5,250. Laminate sits at the low end, while quartz and granite cost more.

Layout and walls. Keeping the sink and range where they are holds the cost down. Moving them means moving the pipes and wiring behind them. Taking out a load-bearing wall adds $1,400 to $11,500 in the January guide. An engineer plans the beam that carries the weight above it.

Plumbing and electrical. New lines and fixtures add $1,000 to $4,000 in the January guide. Layout changes push that toward the top of the range. Switching an electric range to gas adds $200 to $1,300 for the gas line. The June guide prices an electrical panel upgrade at $520 to $2,000.

Appliances. A full set of new major appliances runs $2,500 to $15,000 in the January guide. High-end sets can pass $25,000, and many homeowners replace only one or two. With Mulberry Creek Construction, you pick and buy the appliances, so plan for them as their own cost.

How long does a kitchen remodel take?

The June guide puts construction at six to 10 weeks. About four weeks of planning come before that. A refresh that keeps the layout moves faster than a full gut.

Permits can set part of the pace and part of the cost. The City of Woodward lists remodels among the work that needs a permit before it starts. It points to the city code of ordinances for permit fees. Your city’s building permit office says what your kitchen needs.

What should a written kitchen estimate cover?

A written estimate turns these ranges into a price for your room. Ask for one that spells out each part of the job:

  • What comes out, and what stays
  • The cabinet and countertop lines, by material
  • Every plumbing or electrical change, gas lines included
  • The flooring and the tile backsplash
  • Who buys the appliances, and when their sizes are needed
  • Whether the job needs a permit, and which office issues it
  • The order of work and a rough time frame

Ask how the estimate handles a surprise behind a wall, such as old wiring or water damage. A line-by-line estimate also shows which choices move the total.
